Sophia Bush Addresses Speculation Regarding Beginning of Relationship With Ashlyn Harris
The actress clarified the timeline of her romance during a podcast appearance ahead of her memoir release.
Actress Sophia Bush addressed speculation surrounding the beginning of her relationship with Ashlyn Harris during an appearance on the podcast Call Her Daddy, which aired on Wednesday, October 21. Speaking to host Alex Cooper, Bush reiterated that there was no overlap between her relationship with Harris and their respective past marriages.
Bush confirmed that both she and Harris had already filed for divorce and were living in separate residences from their former partners when they initially went out to dinner together. The couple started dating in October 2023 following separate divorce filings. Bush was previously married to entrepreneur Grant Hughes from June 2022 to August 2023, while Harris was married to former soccer player Ali Krieger from December 2019 until filing for divorce in September 2023.
Reflecting on the public scrutiny and rumors that characterized the start of their romance, Bush acknowledged wishing they had approached the timing differently. "Everybody wishes they could’ve done a million things differently at the time," Bush said, adding that while she wishes they had waited a few weeks before going on a date, she cannot change the reality of what happened.
The actress noted that she has no intention of trying to change the minds of people who have already formed conclusions about their timeline. She also highlighted the broader impact of online speculation, stating that the public reaction negatively affected careers and created an ugly environment that resembled a sport.
Despite the negativity, Bush and Harris moved forward and celebrated their marriage last year in an intimate backyard ceremony in Upstate New York. Bush described the private event as the perfect setting for the next chapter in their relationship.
The interview coincided with promotional events for Bush's upcoming memoir, titled And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress, which is scheduled for release on October 27.
