Spanish Sports Council Refers La Liga President to Sports Arbitration Court
The government body requested a review of remarks comparing Real Madrid communication methods to Nazi propaganda.
The Spanish government, acting through the High Council for Sports (CSD), has officially referred La Liga President Javier Tebas to the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD) following controversial remarks comparing Real Madrid's communication methods to Nazi propaganda.
The dispute arose after Tebas published a statement on social media on October 16, drawing parallels between the club's communications and the propaganda mechanisms used by Joseph Goebbels during Nazi Germany. In response, the CSD initiated an ex officio proceeding to determine whether the remarks violated sports dignity and decorum provisions under Spanish sports law.
The CSD stated that it requested the independent collegiate body to evaluate potential violations of Article 76.4.b of Sports Law 10/1990, which classifies public acts undermining sports decorum as serious infractions. The regulatory body emphasized that maintaining a framework of civilized coexistence and mutual respect among sports officials is fundamental to preserving the core values of fair play and respect.
In his response, Tebas criticized the action and questioned the silence of the Secretary of State for Sports and CSD leadership regarding prior accusations made by Real Madrid concerning refereeing decisions in Spain's top division. He suggested that the disciplinary procedure was part of a persistent effort to push for his disqualification.
In a separate sports-related security incident in the United Kingdom, English football club Brentford filed a police complaint following a reckless stunt during a match against Liverpool at Gtech Community Stadium. Authorities were notified after a video circulated showing an individual kicking a rugby ball from the roof of an adjacent residential complex onto the pitch near the field of play.
The Brentford club administration categorized the behavior as dangerous and potentially harmful to players, staff, and spectators alike. The club is currently collaborating with local law enforcement to identify the responsible parties.
Meanwhile, in the entertainment sector, Italian rapper Fedez faces legal action in Milan after four young adults filed a police complaint accusing him and his bodyguards of assault and threats outside a nightclub. According to the police report, the confrontation took place in the early hours of October 16 following a dispute over requests for photographs. Legal representatives for the artist maintained that he reacted to an unprovoked confrontation by intoxicated individuals and did not engage in any group beating, while prosecutors continue to review surveillance footage.
Additionally, reality television participant and actress Giovanna Gold faces potential legal scrutiny in Brazil, where the São Paulo LGBTQIAPN+ Pride Association announced intentions to file a complaint with the public prosecutor's office over alleged homophobic remarks made during a televised broadcast.
