TVS Motor Unveils New RTR 125 Motorcycle and Electric Scooters at EICMA 2026
The Indian manufacturer is expanding its European footprint with a series of new production-ready two-wheelers tailored for local riders.
TVS Motor Company showcased four production-ready models at the EICMA 2026 exhibition in Milan, marking a significant expansion of its portfolio for European markets. Among the highlights is the all-new RTR 125, a sporty streetfighter designed to meet the demands of European riders holding A1 licenses.
The RTR 125 features a 125cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that develops 14.9 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 12 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The powertrain is paired with a six-speed gearbox and comes equipped with a slip-and-assist clutch to ensure smoother gear shifts and minimize rear-wheel hop during hard downshifts.
Built around a tubular trellis frame with a cast swingarm, the motorcycle utilizes KYB suspension, including inverted front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking is handled by ByBre petal disc brakes paired with switchable dual-channel ABS, while the machine rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with road-focused tires.
In terms of technology, the RTR 125 includes a 5-inch TFT display supporting map mirroring, ride modes, and smartphone connectivity. The aggressive styling incorporates sharp bodywork, large tank extensions, a split-seat configuration, and a projector LED headlight with prominent daytime running lights.
Alongside the new 125cc motorcycle, TVS introduced three electric scooters for the European market: the Orbiter, the M1-S, and the European specification of the TVS X. The Orbiter serves as an urban commuter featuring dual battery options and removable battery flexibility, while the M1-S targets the electric maxi-scooter category with a 4.2kWh battery and a top speed of 105 kilometers per hour. The TVS X represents the premium end of the electric range, featuring an aluminum frame, 14-inch wheels, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen.
The company's European expansion strategy is supported by a growing retail network across Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, and Germany. Peyman Kargar, President of International Business at TVS Motor, emphasized that the company is focusing heavily on developing robust distribution, dealer, and service capabilities alongside vehicles designed specifically for European requirements.
While the new models have generated significant interest internationally, their availability and pricing remain unconfirmed for other regions. Regarding a potential launch in India, industry analysts note that the advanced liquid-cooled engine and premium hardware package could make the RTR 125 considerably more expensive than conventional domestic 125cc motorcycles, leaving its domestic release unconfirmed for now.
