A suspect and one other person were killed on Wednesday afternoon following an active threat incident at the Citibank Center corporate campus in Brandon, located just east of Tampa, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Authorities confirmed that the suspect involved in the violent episode is deceased and that there is one confirmed victim.

The emergency response unfolded shortly after noon when a large law enforcement presence, including county sheriff's deputies and SWAT teams, rushed to the banking giant's campus near Queen Palms Drive and Falkenburg Road. Aerial footage and local media reports showed swarms of police vehicles and corporate employees gathering outside the secure perimeter as first responders secured the area.

According to scanner traffic from the sheriff's office, the victim was discovered wounded and bleeding inside the cafeteria of the Citibank Center. Local station WFLA reported that SWAT officers quickly moved onto the property to clear the multi-building corporate campus, which houses thousands of employees.

Survivors recounted moments of panic and chaos as the attack unfolded. Sonja Barker, an employee who was eating lunch outside the company cafeteria, said she heard gunshots and saw hundreds of people rushing to escape the secured gates. "I saw people running, and then I heard shots, and so my first instinct is I'm going to run too," Barker told local reporters, adding that she fell during the stampede as everyone attempted to flee at once.

People in the surrounding area reported receiving public safety alerts on their mobile phones warning them of an active shooter and urging them to shelter in place. Deputies directed all Citibank employees to meet at a designated reunification site located in the parking lot of the Sheraton at Queen Palm Drive and Princess Palm Avenue while law enforcement worked to clear the buildings.

In an official statement, corporate representatives for Citi acknowledged the tragedy. "We are aware of an incident impacting our site in Tampa, Florida and are coordinating with law enforcement," the company stated. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased suspect or victim, nor have they disclosed a confirmed motive behind the targeted incident as the investigation remains ongoing.
