The Minnesota Timberwolves will put their undefeated start on the line Monday evening when they travel to face the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in what shapes up as an intriguing early-season clash between two playoff contenders.

Minnesota enters the matchup carrying a 3-0 record after securing a 117-94 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night. Anthony Edwards led the charge with a game-high 26 points, while Rudy Gobert anchored the interior by grabbing 13 rebounds and holding Toronto's center scoreless. The Timberwolves have opened their campaign in dominant fashion, making history as just the third team in NBA history to score at least 121 points while holding opponents under 100 points through their first three games.

Cleveland enters Monday with a 1-1 record, most recently defeating the Brooklyn Nets 125-121 on Saturday. Donovan Mitchell scored 22 points to help the Cavaliers fend off a late charge after building a 22-point lead. However, head coach Kenny Atkinson's squad has faced challenges maintaining leads early in the year, having previously blown a 29-point advantage in a season-opening loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Cavaliers feature a starting lineup expected to include James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Peyton Watson, and Jarrett Allen. Mitchell, Mobley, and Allen have performed strongly thus far, combining to average 63.5 points, 24.0 rebounds, and 4.5 blocked shots while shooting 58.4% from the field. Meanwhile, guard James Harden and offseason addition Peyton Watson are still working to find their rhythm offensively.

On the Minnesota side, head coach Chris Finch relies on a deep roster featuring Edwards, Gobert, Jaden McDaniels, and point guard LaMelo Ball. Ball, who is averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 assists, has quickly integrated into the lineup and drawn praise for his leadership and fast-paced style. The Timberwolves will have to manage without Donte DiVincenzo, who remains sidelined with a right Achilles injury.

The Cavaliers will also be missing a few rotational pieces, with Khalifa Diop out due to a left knee injury and Nae'Qwan Tomlin sidelined by a lower back stress reaction. These absences test Cleveland's frontcourt depth against a formidable Minnesota interior defense led by Gobert.

Monday's contest marks the second game of a back-to-back for the Timberwolves, while the Cavaliers hold a rest advantage playing on their home floor. Cleveland opened as a 5.5-point favorite, though both teams are looking to establish early momentum as the NBA season gets fully underway.
