Velez Crushes Central Cordoba 5-0 in Liga Profesional

Velez Sarsfield secured a commanding 5-0 victory away against Central Cordoba of Santiago del Estero during the fourteenth round of Group A in the Torneo Clausura. The match took place at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades, with Velez showcasing a dominant performance that propelled the team further up the league standings.

The scoring for the visiting side was led by a standout performance from Paraguayan forward Ronaldo Martínez, who netted a hat trick. Additional goals from Matías Pellegrini and Lucas Robertone rounded out the comprehensive victory for the team managed by Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

Both squads finished the match with ten players on the pitch following the red card ejections of Rodrigo Aliendro and Alejandro Maciel. The visitors established control early in the contest, building a 2-0 lead within the first twenty-one minutes of play before extending their advantage further.

With this result, Velez moved into second place in Group A with 27 points, officially securing its qualification for the playoffs. Furthermore, the club climbed to third place in the annual aggregate table with 55 units, sitting just two points behind the leader Boca Juniors with two rounds remaining in the season.

On the other side, Central Cordoba remains in a difficult stretch, sitting near the bottom of Group A with 10 points and without a mathematical chance of advancing to the top eight. The squad managed by Sebastián Domínguez has struggled to find consistency and faces mounting pressure as the regular phase draws to a close.

Ahead of the kickoff, members of the Velez delegation engaged with the local community in Santiago del Estero. Assistant coach Gustavo Barros Schelotto was spotted by residents on Sunday morning engaging in physical exercise and taking photographs near Plaza Belgrano in the city of La Banda.

The fixture was broadcast live via ESPN Premium and streaming platforms such as Flow, Telecentro Play, and DirecTV GO, with referee Pablo Echavarría officiating the match and José Carreras managing VAR duties.
