The Los Angeles Lakers secured a 127-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena in their season opener. Powered by strong performances from Luka Doncic and new center Walker Kessler, the Lakers cruised to a 22-point margin against a Warriors squad led by Stephen Curry.

Entering the season with a heavily revamped lineup following the departure of LeBron James in free agency and the losses of interior players like Jaxson Hayes and Deandre Ayton, Los Angeles needed immediate frontcourt stability. Kessler stepped into that role on opening night, logging 30 minutes to anchor the team's defense and dominate the paint.

Kessler delivered an extraordinary debut, finishing with 26 points while shooting a perfect 12-for-12 from the field. He added nine rebounds, two blocks, and one assist, establishing himself as a formidable presence alongside Doncic, who contributed 28 points of his own.

The young center's flawless shooting night matched a rare piece of NBA history. Kessler joined elite company by echoing a feat previously approached only by Wilt Chamberlain, who went 14-for-14 on March 11, 1969, against the Detroit Pistons.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick praised Kessler's mentality and readiness for the high expectations that come with playing in Los Angeles. Speaking about the new acquisition, Redick noted that the center embraces the nightly stakes of wearing a Lakers uniform.

"I think he wants to embrace that. I think that's why he wanted to be a Laker. And why he wanted to be here was because of the fact that there are stakes every single night when you wear a Lakers uniform," Redick said, according to Dan Woike of The Athletic.

For Golden State, the season opener marked the beginning of a campaign where they look to rebound from a 37-45 record in the previous season. The Warriors played without Jimmy Butler, who remains unavailable to start the year due to an ACL injury, while keeping core pieces like Curry intact under a newly signed contract extension.

With their first victory secured, the Lakers look to build chemistry around their new rotation pieces as the regular season gets underway, while the Warriors aim to bounce back in their upcoming matchups.
