Xiaomi Announces Global Rollout Schedule for HyperOS 4 Software Update
The major software release covers over 80 devices and introduces a new glass-inspired design alongside performance enhancements.
Xiaomi has officially detailed its global rollout roadmap for HyperOS 4, a significant software update scheduled to reach more than 80 different smartphone and tablet models. The distribution process is organized into three distinct waves, beginning in early November 2026 and continuing through December of the same year. This update represents a major shift for the manufacturer, bringing a visual redesign and functional improvements to a wide range of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices.
The new interface, which Xiaomi refers to as a "Soft Light Glass" design, features translucent panels, layered notifications, and a refreshed lock screen aesthetic. Beyond these visual changes, the update is built upon the foundation of Android 17, incorporating smarter device management tools and performance optimizations. While some observers have noted similarities between this design language and other industry trends, Xiaomi is moving forward with a broad deployment strategy to bring these features to millions of users worldwide.
The rollout schedule is divided into three phases. The first wave, starting in early November, includes flagship devices such as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17, along with various models from the Redmi Note 17 and POCO F8 series. A second wave is slated for mid-November, covering additional devices like the Xiaomi 15T series and various tablets. A final, extensive wave is scheduled for December, which will include older flagship models like the Xiaomi 14 and 13 series, as well as a variety of Redmi and POCO handsets.
While the company has provided a comprehensive list of devices, officials noted that these dates represent the start of the rollout windows rather than guaranteed delivery times for every user. Availability will likely fluctuate based on specific regions and individual device configurations. Users are encouraged to monitor their device's system update settings for notifications, as the updates are typically delivered in stages to ensure stability.
The expansion of HyperOS 4 follows a global beta program that began in September. For users participating in beta testing, experts have warned that there is no over-the-air rollback option, meaning that reverting to a stable version may require a clean installation through the device's bootloader. Because of these technical risks, the beta software is generally recommended only for users who are comfortable with manual firmware management and have secured backups of their personal data.
In addition to its mobile software efforts, Xiaomi is integrating HyperOS connectivity into its broader ecosystem of smart home products. The company recently launched the Mijia Bedside Lamp 3, which supports HyperOS voice commands and gesture controls. This device, along with other smart home peripherals, reflects the company's ongoing strategy to create a more unified experience across its hardware, ranging from high-end smartphones to domestic lighting solutions.
