A Surprising Turn on 'Das perfekte Dinner' as a Guest Brings His Own Chair

Candidate Maja hosted a Mediterranean-themed evening that featured homemade pasta, unique pastries, and an unexpected seating solution.

Television viewers recently watched a memorable episode of the culinary competition "Das perfekte Dinner," featuring 25-year-old participant Maja. Originally from Hanover and now living in East Frisia, Maja decided to join the show to delight her grandmother, a passionate fan of similar television programs. For her menu, titled "Mediterranean Instead of Wadden Sea -- A Mediterranean Journey," she prepared a three-course meal for her four fellow competitors.

Maja started the evening with an appetizer named 'Saludo del sur,' consisting of Spanish Rosquillas with goat cheese, homemade balsamic cream, honey, and roasted walnuts. While guests expected donut-shaped pastries, Maja baked stick-shaped versions instead. Gastro-experienced guest Mike noted, 'I didn't know the Rosquillas beforehand either.'

For the main course, Maja served homemade 'Sogno toscano' ravioli filled with ricotta and parmesan cream in a white wine butter sauce. While Andreas praised the handmade pasta, Hannelore felt the noodles were a bit too firm to the bite. Another guest, Hans, noted that he would have preferred more filling, remarking, 'That was just dough on dough.'

To accommodate her guests outdoors, Maja prepared a beach corner in the garden featuring a sand area, a deck chair, and a fire pit. Because the host only possessed four chairs, 46-year-old Mike offered an unusual solution. He brought his own chair to the dinner party, a move he happily utilized while enjoying the outdoor setting and the subsequent courses.

The evening concluded with a chocolate soufflé with a liquid center and Crème anglaise for dessert. However, the final course drew mixed reactions. When Mike asked if the soufflé was intentionally very liquid, Maja confirmed that it was planned. Andreas, on the other hand, was disappointed, stating that his portion lacked the liquid center entirely and was simply firm. He described the dessert as 'too much chocolate, too much sweet.'

Despite some critiques regarding the food, Hans commended Maja for her structured timing and organization, calling it short, crisp, and tip-top. Maja ultimately earned 32 points for her efforts. Although Mike secured the overall weekly victory and expressed emotional surprise at his win, the five participants concluded the week having formed a strong friendship.
