The 55-year-old manager departs after a difficult start to the club's maiden campaign in League One.

Andy Woodman has left his position as manager of Bromley after five and a half years in charge, following the mutual termination of his contract. The 55-year-old's departure was confirmed on Thursday, ending a historic tenure that saw the club reach unprecedented heights in English professional football.

The decision comes on the heels of a challenging opening to Bromley's first-ever season in the third tier. The team currently sits 23rd in League One, managing only two victories from their opening 10 matches and conceding a division-high 25 goals. Tuesday's 4-0 defeat at Leicester City marked their third consecutive league loss and their fifth straight defeat across all competitions.

Bromley owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves praised Woodman for his immense contributions to the organization. "I would firstly like to offer my sincere thanks to Andy for all he has achieved during his time with us," Stanton-Gleaves said, adding that Woodman had been fundamental in helping the club scale new heights.

Woodman took charge of Bromley in 2021 in what was his first managerial role, compiling a 42.6% win rate across 289 matches. During his tenure, he guided the Ravens to maiden FA Trophy glory, secured promotion to the Football League via a National League play-off final victory over Solihull Moors, and captured the League Two title this past May, earning him the division's manager of the year honors for 2025-26.

His time at Hayes Lane also featured the club's best-ever FA Cup run, reaching the third round to face Premier League opposition in Newcastle United. Woodman's five-year and seven-month tenure stood as the third-longest active managerial reign across the 92 Premier League and English Football League clubs, trailing only Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Nigel Clough of Mansfield Town.

The club's struggles this season have been compounded by a lengthy injury list and a significant squad turnover, leading to tough results including a 7-2 loss at Hillsborough and a 5-0 home defeat against Leyton Orient. Despite two years remaining on his contract, both the club and Woodman determined that the mutual separation was the correct course of action as the team sits just one point above bottom-placed Wigan Athletic.

Following the departure, assistant manager Byron Webster will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis. Webster, who retired as a Bromley player at the conclusion of last season, prepares to lead the squad ahead of Saturday's upcoming home fixture against Peterborough United at Hayes Lane.
