Beşiktaş Hosts Crystal Palace in UEFA Europa League Match

Beşiktaş prepares to face Crystal Palace on Thursday at Tüpraş Stadium for the third matchday of the UEFA Europa League league phase. The fixture is scheduled to begin at 22:00 local time and will be broadcast live and free-to-air on TRT 1 in the United States and internationally through various platforms.

Entering this fixture, Beşiktaş has enjoyed a strong start in the European competition under manager Vincenzo Italiano, securing victories in their opening two matches with a 4-1 home win against Marseille followed by a 2-3 away triumph at Hoffenheim. This puts the Turkish side in fourth place in the league phase standings.

Domestically, however, Beşiktaş has experienced mixed form, sitting fourth in the Süper Lig after five wins and three losses from their first eight games. Their most recent domestic outing ended in a 2-0 defeat away to Trabzonspor. Italiano addressed his lineup choices ahead of the game, emphasizing the challenges of balancing European and domestic schedules.

"It is a difficult match. We will play against a good team, the champions of last year's Conference League," Italiano stated, noting that playing every 72 hours requires utilizing the entire squad and giving opportunities to players who have had fewer minutes.

Team sheets revealed that Beşiktaş forwards Dusan Vlahovic and winger Vaclav Cerny will begin the match on the bench. Club reports confirmed that neither player is sidelined due to injury or suspension, with their omission from the starting lineup stemming strictly from technical decisions made by the coaching staff.

Crystal Palace arrives in Istanbul looking to rebound from a challenging week that included a defeat in Lyon after a poor first-half performance and a heavy loss against rivals Brighton. Manager Sage acknowledged the hostile atmosphere awaiting them in Istanbul, describing the match as potentially their toughest test to date in the competition.

Palace will be missing key midfielder Quinten Timber, who has started nearly every game since joining the club, along with Takehiro Tomiyasu. On a positive note, Ben Chilwell has returned to the squad and traveled to Turkey, while goalkeeper Dean Henderson remains doubtful as his fitness continues to be assessed.

The English visitors enter the European stage carrying the pedigree of winning the UEFA Conference League last season by defeating Rayo Vallecano 1-0, securing their path into the current Europa League season. Beşiktaş aims to utilize its home advantage to maintain a winning momentum in the tournament.
