The Deportivo de A Coruña secured a 3-0 victory against regional league side Auriense CA on Thursday evening at the Estadio O Couto in Ourense, advancing to the next round of the Copa del Rey. Despite a resilient defensive effort from the young home squad during the first half, the superior quality of the visiting team eventually took control in the closing moments before halftime.

The breakthrough arrived in the 44th minute when a quick counterattack by Kevin down the left flank resulted in a pass to Asp Jensen, who opened the scoring. This play offered a measure of redemption for Kevin, who had missed a crucial chance in the final minute of his team's previous league match against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano.

Holding a narrow lead at the intermission, Deportivo capitalized on its momentum early in the second half. In the 57th minute, Asp Jensen doubled the lead with another close-range finish inside the penalty box, mirroring his first goal and further dampening any hopes of a comeback by Auriense.

Luismi Cruz sealed the outcome in the 85th minute by executing a skillful individual play that culminated in the third goal for the visitors, following a combination with the standout Danish midfielder. Auriense nearly found the back of the net late in the match, but Deportivo goalkeeper Álvaro Ferllo produced a vital save, tipping a dangerous shot against the crossbar.

For Deportivo, the fixture provided a welcome distraction from a difficult stretch in LaLiga EA Sports, where the club has gone six consecutive matches without a victory, recording three draws and three losses. The encounter also allowed the coaching staff to rest key starters and provide valuable playing time to younger squad members.

Auriense, competing in the regional Preferente category, earned widespread praise for maintaining a tight defensive block and limiting their elite opponents mostly to long-range attempts throughout the opening period. Around 5,000 spectators attended the single-elimination fixture in Ourense.

Prior to kickoff, all matches across Spain observed a moment of silence accompanied by black armbands, serving as a gesture of solidarity with the victims of a tragic railway accident that occurred on Wednesday in Urda, Toledo.
