Michael Sheen Reflects on Exit From The Celebrity Traitors

The Welsh actor opened up about his departure after being named head of the roundtable and ultimately becoming the final celebrity murdered by the Traitors.

Actor Michael Sheen recently reflected on his dramatic departure from the second season of The Celebrity Traitors, describing his appointment as head of the roundtable as a "poison chalice." Sheen became the final celebrity to be eliminated by the Traitors ahead of the finale, following a tense penultimate episode in which he correctly suspected foul play regarding a murder in plain sight.

Speaking about his time on the popular BBC series, the Welsh actor admitted that standing out among his peers made him an immediate target. He explained that being singled out left him caught between the suspicions of the Faithful and the strategic calculations of the Traitors. According to Sheen, putting his head above the parapet created an issue for his survival regardless of how other players reacted.

Sheen initially entered the castle as a Faithful, expecting the role to be less stressful than playing a Traitor. However, he quickly realized that the constant fight for survival brought its own unique pressures. He noted that the group's early success in uncovering Traitors ultimately acted as a double-edged sword, since every departure inevitably triggered new recruitments that complicated the gameplay.

Knowing his time in the game was drawing to a close, Sheen decided to adopt an aggressive strategy during his final morning. He vowed to make life difficult for the Traitors, describing the move as partly heartfelt and partly a tactic to rattle a group he sensed was becoming nervous. Although he ultimately went down in flames, his deductions helped corner fellow players and set the stage for a dramatic conclusion.

The season two finale ultimately concluded with an unexpected victory for the Faithful, as Sebastian Croft and Romesh Ranganathan emerged as the winners. After remaining players successfully banished the final remaining Traitors, Maya Jama and King Kenny, the two victors split an £83,000 cash prize to support their chosen charities, with Sheen playing on behalf of Tŷ Hafan.
