A television quiz show contestant experienced an expensive stumble during a recent broadcast when a sports-related question cost him a substantial portion of his winnings. Competing on the popular program hosted by Günther Jauch, the 26-year-old railway employee Noah Petrik faced a 2,000-euro question regarding the identity of the current manager for the professional soccer club Union Berlin.

Unfamiliar with soccer matters, Petrik decided to rely on his designated telephone lifeline for assistance. Acting on the advice of his helper, the contestant selected a completely fictional name, Igor Spassikowski, rather than the actual coach, Mauro Lustrinelli. Consequently, his prize money dropped significantly down to 500 euros.

Reflecting on the stressful studio environment, Petrik explained that television pressure heavily influenced his final decision. Host Günther Jauch had subtly hinted that another lifeline remained available, but the contestant felt entirely overwhelmed by the moment. "I was already so confused that I could not even pronounce the names correctly anymore, and then he suggested that I should take option A. I thought that was a hint. You are just in such a tunnel when you have your first television appearance," Petrik stated.

Despite missing out on 1,500 euros, the blunder quickly gained widespread attention and transformed into a heartwarming story. Union Berlin management noticed the amusing television mishap and decided to respond with lighthearted humor. Coach Mauro Lustrinelli publicly announced that the club would reach out to the quiz participant.

True to their word, the Bundesliga club invited Petrik to attend their home match against 1.0 FC Köln at the Alte Försterei stadium. Accepting the invitation without hesitation, the quiz participant finally met the Swiss manager in person following the 1-1 draw.

Union Berlin prepared a special surprise for their visitor, presenting him with an official team jersey featuring the number 26. Instead of his own name, the shirt humorously displayed "Spassikowski" across the back to commemorate his memorable televised mistake.

Delighted by the gesture, Petrik expressed appreciation for the unexpected turn of events. "I think it is very cool to have this jersey now. You really have to say it is a very funny action by Union," he noted, adding that he was initially surprised by the media wave generated by his appearance.

Although he did not walk away with the grand prize, Petrik left the stadium with an unforgettable experience and a unique piece of sports memorabilia. The lighthearted response from the club ensured that a frustrating television setback ultimately concluded with a positive outcome.
