Rockstar Games has officially announced the global release times and storage requirements for Grand Theft Auto VI, confirming that the highly anticipated open-world game will launch on November 19, 2026. Players across the globe will gain access to the title at midnight local time in their respective regions, meaning New Zealand players will be among the first to dive into the story of criminal couple Jason and Lucia.

The upcoming game will feature the largest map in the franchise's history, taking place across the state of Leonida. According to Rockstar, the title's narrative follows Jason and Lucia as they navigate a criminal conspiracy after an easy score goes wrong. The massive scope of the game includes hundreds of accessible building interiors, numerous vehicles, and various side activities such as airboating, kayaking, working out at gyms, and street racing.

Alongside the release schedule, PlayStation and Rockstar have confirmed that digital preloading will begin on November 10, 2026. On PlayStation 5, preloading starts at midnight local time. For Xbox Series X and S users, the preload opens worldwide at 12 a.m. GMT on November 10, which translates to 4 p.m. PT and 7 p.m. ET on November 9 in the United States. Players who purchase physical retail copies featuring a code in a box will be able to begin redeeming and preloading their games starting November 12.

Console owners will need to clear significant space on their hard drives, as the official install size requires up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device. With standard console operating systems already taking up a portion of internal drives, a file size of this magnitude will consume more than 25 percent of the available space on a standard digital PlayStation 5 console without external storage.

To help fans prepare for the launch, Rockstar announced that it will publish an official printable cover art poster and a map of Leonida as free digital downloads on its website on November 19. Additionally, a double-sided physical version will be available shortly after launch from the Rockstar Store for $0.99 or as a complimentary gift with other store purchases. Sony is also releasing a limited-edition DualSense wireless controller themed around the game, with preorders currently open and shipments scheduled to arrive on launch day.

With the release date approaching, players are advised to manage their console storage ahead of the November 10 preload window to avoid lengthy download waits on launch day. Those looking to avoid major plot details and spoilers from international players who gain early access through regional midnight rollouts have also been advised to exercise caution on social media as November 19 approaches.
