Rockstar Games Details GTA 6 Preload, Release Times, and File Size
Grand Theft Auto VI launches globally on November 19, requiring players to clear 212 gigabytes of storage space.
Rockstar Games has officially announced global rollout details for Grand Theft Auto VI, confirming preload schedules, regional launch times, and storage requirements ahead of its November 19 release. The highly anticipated open-world game will launch across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles using a local midnight release strategy, meaning players in different time zones will gain access as the calendar turns to November 19.
Digital preloading on the PlayStation 5 is scheduled to begin at midnight local time on Tuesday, November 10. For Xbox Series X and S users, the preload process starts globally on Tuesday, November 10 at 12 a.m. GMT, which translates to 7 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. PT on November 9. Additionally, code-in-box physical versions will become available from retailers starting November 12.
Players preparing for the launch will need to ensure their consoles have ample space, as the installation requires up to 212 GB of free storage depending on the device. On launch day, Rockstar will also provide a free digital download of the official cover art poster and a map of Leonida on its website, with a double-sided physical edition available shortly after through the Rockstar Store.
Alongside the core game rollout, cultural anticipation for the title continues to grow. Reports indicate that Nike and rapper Travis Scott are collaborating with Rockstar Games to release a themed set of Nike Air Force 1 '07 sneakers. The shoes, rumored to retail for $130 on November 19, reportedly feature design elements nodding to the game, including six stars on the heels to mark the return of the six-star wanted level.
While fans prepare for the arrival of GTA 6, changes are also affecting Rockstar's existing catalog. Netflix subscribers will lose access to the original Western open-world game Red Dead Redemption starting December 2, 2026. The mobile port, which debuted on the streaming platform following its mobile release, surpassed 10 million downloads and remains available for standalone purchase on major app stores.
As the industry looks toward the November 19 launch, analysts expect GTA 6 to shatter multiple sales and revenue records. The game returns players to a massive, detailed open world featuring mature content, while keeping fans engaged with physical collectibles, digital maps, and extensive console preloading options.
