Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently added two major milestones to his illustrious NFL résumé during a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Despite the Chiefs suffering their first loss of the 2026 season with a 20-3 defeat, Kelce achieved historical status on the field.

During the fourth quarter, quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with Kelce for a 19-yard pass, marking the longest reception of the night for the veteran tight end. That catch marked Kelce's 1,103rd career reception, allowing him to surpass both Cris Carter and Marvin Harrison on the NFL's all-time list and move into fifth place overall.

Kelce now trails only Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Gonzalez, and Jason Witten in career receptions. In addition, Kelce surpassed fellow Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez to claim the all-time record for the most receiving yards by a tight end in history, combining regular season and playoff totals to reach 15,420 yards.

Before taking the field against Seattle, Kelce and Mahomes spoke with Chris Berman about the strong bond they share on and off the gridiron. Kelce credited the team's ongoing success to a strong organizational culture, noting that the franchise operates like a family from the top down.

"It's a family from the top down," Kelce said. He added that the chemistry and respect within the locker room drive players to excel for one another while maintaining a fun atmosphere.

Mahomes echoed similar sentiments regarding their enduring partnership on the field. The quarterback explained that their shared mindset and extensive communication, which began during his first year as a starter in 2018, allow them to read each other's minds during games and execute plays seamlessly.

Outside of football, Kelce recently secured a lighthearted accolade following his summer wedding to pop star Taylor Swift. People magazine announced the results of its annual readers' choice poll, crowning Kelce as the "Sexiest Cat Dad."

Although Swift's three cats—Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button—are technically his stepcats, voters quickly embraced the title for the NFL star. Swift, a well-known cat enthusiast who also shares a dog named Wendy with Kelce, famously embraced feline fandom publicly in previous years, paving the way for her husband's new honorary title.
