The India women's national cricket team hosted Zimbabwe on October 23, 2026, at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara, Baroda, for the first fixture of their three-match ODI series under the ICC Women's Championship. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the touring Zimbabwe squad posted a total of 197 runs before being bowled out in 49.5 overs.

Zimbabwe's innings was anchored by Beloved Biza, who contributed a half-century to help her side navigate through challenging bowling spells. Modester Mupachikwa added 25 runs, while Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano chipped in with 21 runs off 27 deliveries, establishing a steady partnership following an early breakthrough by the Indian bowling attack.

The Indian bowling lineup displayed disciplined control throughout the innings. Sree Charani led the attack by claiming four wickets, while teammate Kranti Gaud secured three dismissals. Deepti Sharma also played a crucial role by wrapping up the tail, finishing with multiple wickets and bowling out Tendai Makusha in the final over.

In response, India initiated a confident chase with an opening partnership between captain Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. The duo established a half-century stand, guiding India to 72 runs without loss by the end of the tenth over. Mandhana and Rawal anchored the top order comfortably as the team pursued the 198-run target.

Ahead of the match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed a late alteration to the host squad. Experienced fast bowler Renuka Singh was withdrawn from the roster as she continues to build up her bowling volume for the 50-over format at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Renuka had last represented India during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.

Uncapped fast bowler Jintimani Kalita was named to replace Renuka in the ODI squad. Kalita recently participated in India's three-match T20I series sweep against Zimbabwe and traveled directly to Baroda to join her teammates for the 50-over matches. The second and third ODIs of the series are scheduled to take place at the same venue on October 25 and October 28, respectively.
