The Kaizer Chiefs have been eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup following a 3-2 defeat on post-match penalties against Zambian club Red Arrows. The South African side won the second leg 1-0 thanks to a header from Bradley Cross, which tied the aggregate score at 1-1, but ultimately fell short in the subsequent penalty shootout at the preliminary stage.

Carrying a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, Red Arrows nearly extended their lead early in the match when Bruce Bvuma made a crucial save within the first seven minutes. Shortly after, the Soweto giants missed their best scoring opportunity of the first half when Wandile Duba threaded a pass to Thulani Mabaso, whose shot was aimed directly at the goalkeeper.

Pule Mmodi also squandered a close-range opportunity before halftime, heading a cross straight at Red Arrows goalkeeper Charles Kalumba. Both teams struggled to break through defensive lines until the 65th minute, when Mfundo Vilakazi delivered a free kick that Bradley Cross headed in to level the aggregate score.

The Glamour Boys missed further chances to secure a win in regulation time. With twelve minutes remaining, Vilakazi created an opening for Mduduzi Shabalala, who shot over the bar. Shabalala missed another opportunity seven minutes later after being put through on goal by substitute Ethan Chislett, while Asanele Velebayi also sent a shot over the crossbar.

With the match scoreless at full-time, the tie went to penalties. Red Arrows converted three spot-kicks, while Lebohang Maboe, Reeve Frosler, and Ethan Chislett failed to score for the Chiefs, securing the 3-2 shootout victory for the Zambian side.

The elimination marks a disappointing night for South African football in continental competition. While Orlando Pirates advanced in the CAF Champions League, the Kaizer Chiefs' exit leaves Durban City as the nation's lone remaining representative in the CAF Confederation Cup.
