Local authorities urge residents to increase vigilance following a wave of break-ins throughout the region.

Law enforcement authorities across the Haute-Loire department have called for heightened vigilance after approximately ten burglaries and break-ins were reported over a single weekend. The string of offenses follows a traditional autumn pattern as daylight hours decrease and periods of darkness lengthen across the region.

The incidents affected multiple communities, including Langeac, Grazac, Dunières, and Montfaucon-en-Velay. Officials recorded four break-ins or attempted break-ins in Langeac alone, where targets included a local garden center and a storage building operated by the department's road services division.

In Grazac, a home was targeted on Saturday evening between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM while the occupants were away. Additional offenses occurred during daylight hours, such as incidents in Langeac on Sunday afternoon and in Montfaucon-en-Velay between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. In Dunières, the discovery of a ten-euro bill in a garden suggested an additional property may have been compromised.

In response to the cluster of crimes, the gendarmerie contacted municipal leaders to share security advisories with residents. Local administrations utilized community networks to encourage citizens to adopt preventive habits, such as systematically locking doors and windows even during brief absences and closing shutters whenever possible.

Beyond security concerns, the Haute-Loire department recently experienced a diverse array of community and technological events. Agricultural innovation took center stage at a farm in Monlet, where the Chamber of Agriculture hosted a special demonstration highlighting the use of connected collars, drones, and 3D technology to assist local farmers.

At the same time, regional calendars offered various recreational and sporting activities for residents and families during the school holidays. Events included equestrian tours, hiking routes along the Loire gorges, children's team challenges, pottery decoration workshops, and aquabike sessions in Yssingeaux, reflecting an active local schedule alongside the recent security developments.
