Phantom Blade Zero Launches with High Metacritic Scores

S-GAME has officially launched its highly anticipated action role-playing game, Phantom Blade Zero, arriving on PlayStation 5 and PC. Following the lifting of review embargoes, the title has secured an impressive 88 on Metacritic, positioning it as one of the highest-rated releases of 2026.

The game combines classic Wuxia storytelling with fast-paced combat powered by Unreal Engine 5. Players step into the shoes of Soul, a warrior cursed with only sixty-six days left to live as he fights through assassins and world-ending conspiracies. Martial arts film veteran Donnie Yen also contributed as a creative consultant to help shape the title's intense combat mechanics.

Major gaming publications praised the release for its polished gameplay and deep world design. PCGamesN awarded the title a 10/10, describing it as a stunning action RPG that gives the best of all time a run for their money with phenomenal combat and an original story. IGN gave the game a 9/10, noting that its standout combat stayed fresh across dozens of hours of play.

While the title is available immediately on PC and PlayStation 5, console players on other platforms will have to wait. Industry reports indicate that PlayStation holds a twelve-month console exclusivity window for Phantom Blade Zero, meaning the earliest the game could potentially arrive on Xbox Series consoles is October 29, 2027.

S-GAME remains an independent developer retaining full creative control over its intellectual property. Although an Xbox version has not yet been officially confirmed by the studio, the expiration of the exclusivity window leaves open the possibility of a future port to Microsoft's console platform.

The strong critical reception has also sparked discussions regarding potential year-end accolades, making Phantom Blade Zero a notable contender as the fall gaming season continues.
